Time Enough

Posting with minutes to spare again tonight. Have you noticed a recurring theme around here? This week I'm blaming my tardiness on the slow descent into yet another cold/flu as the aches and pains start really taking over and my head feels like it's full of lead.

Although I'm failing to provide you all with quality content, I am at least not falling behind so thank goodness for small victories. Is it possible that the planner in me is finally taking over all aspects of my life? Quite possibly, but the state of my bedroom begs to differ.

So many things to do, so little time. Does anyone feel like volunteering to be my personal assistant for a week or two (or twelve)? =) Fingers crossed for a decent night's sleep so I feel more human than zombie tomorrow! Although, that would be an interesting point of view to write from...

The Dumb

Every once in a while I feel like this

Today is one of those days.  It's not even 11 pm yet and I'm done...cannot function, cannot think, eyeing my pillow with longing.  I blame the fall-esque weather which will hopefully take a break tomorrow.

Trade Off

This bipolar weather we're having in Vancouver is seriously messing with my usual summer flow by throwing the flu around.  While I don't usually take a sick day to sleep away whatever is ailing me, I did give in this past Friday and it's made a world of difference.  The downside is that missing a day during the week before a long weekend means playing catch up for the next four days.  The result?  An overworked and exhausted Angela which I'm sure won't help the lingering sniffles I can't seem to shake.  Yay!
*Insert pity party here*

Which would you pick?
In all seriousness, there are certain trades I just wouldn't make; back to back long weekends by accident is one of them.  This photo is another.  I'm sure a lot of you would reach for that sugar dusted donut before the apple unless like me, you suffer from strange cravings every so often.  I'm currently craving some strawberry filled timbits, hence the photo.  Clearly, I'm also suffering from the delusion that this is actually interesting commentary.  A sad side effect to being perpetually tired that can serve as a warning to the rest of you as I'm sure being crazed like me isn't high on your priority list.  So...this seems as good a place as any to end off for the night before I aimlessly ramble on about another un-related topic.  Off to bed for me!

Bust

I had another post to write for today but seeing as how the weekend didn't go as anticipated, I had to scratch it.  Let's just say instead of fun and sun, I spent the weekend at home hiding out and thinking.  Unfortunately for you all, the thinking has caused a bit of a block in terms of writing so I will shamefully steal material from better authors...
"There will always be something to ruin our lives.  It all depends on what or which finds us first.  We are always ripe and ready to be taken." ~ Charles Bukowski

"Love really doesn't care where you are.  In fact, love is an inconsiderate bitch.  Wherever you are, it'll come along and fuck things up." ~ Neta Corey

"The truth is, everyone is going to hurt you.  You just got to find the ones worth suffering for." ~ Bob Marley

"I have spread my dreams under your feet.  Tread softly because you tread on my dreams." ~ William Butler Yeats
Until tomorrow...

Coffee vs. Chai

I gave up coffee for Lent way back in March. Once Easter hit, my third stop off the day was Starbucks. In an attempt to be more frugal, I tried to stick with the cheaper tea options and didn't really have a pressing need to consume my regular pepermint white mocha. As the Canucks headed into overtime in game seven of the opening round against Chicago, I swore to the hockey gods that I would give up coffee for the rest of the playoffs if we could make it past the Hawks. Then Alex Burrows scored the goal that slayed the dragon and my playoff fate was sealed. Now that the playoffs are finished, I'm finding myself still choosing chai over coffee. Could this be a case of PSCPLD (Post Stanley Cup Playoff Loss Depression)? Quite possibly! Can you tell I'm distracted and couldn't think of anything substantial to write about tonight? Of course the lack of working Internet on my laptop didn't help tonight as I'm stuck typing this out on my iPhone so apologies for any typos I don't catch. Fingers crossed I come back tomorrow with something you guys would actually want to read!

Good Intentions

It's Wednesday night and I have yet to fix Sunday's post, or write the 3 work related posts I was hoping to get up this week.  Sometimes people will tell you, "it's the thought that counts" but in the real world, those same 'thoughts' don't count for much when a deadline has come and gone.  Looks like I know how I'll be spending my weekend - playing catch up!

Tick Tock

It's that time of night again.  After a full day of work, dinner, and a bit of relaxing, I'm always surprised when I look up and it's almost 11.  All this being productive in the office is really putting a crimp in my blog writing duties here! Not that I would spend company time working on this, but my lunch hour is often punctuated by emails (I haven't quite mastered ignoring the little new mail icon when it appears on my screen), phone calls, and other requests.  It's not really the most conducive atmosphere for writing.  I have the best ideas when I'm propped up in bed, cozy under the blankets, with my laptop to help keep me warm.  Unfortunately, this is also a good recipe for falling asleep so I'll push on and hopefully finish before that happens. =)

If you haven't figured out by now, I'm not continuing the Social Scene Series (click on Part 1 - Intro or Part 2 - Is MySpace Dead to review) tonight.  I'm still sifting through stats and various research in hopes we avoid another bunk post like the first one, which also translates to I'm fighting through writer's block and am delivering another lame filler post.  Since I'm not giving you my insights on social networking tonight, I'll take this time to welcome our 5th official follower Big Red!  Clearly you hit follow by accident but I think the more, the merrier so hopefully you're not disappointed =)

In an effort to get to know my readers better, I've decided to open up a poll.  Every Monday I'll post a new question for you to answer throughout the week.  Personally, I like polls so hopefully some of you will too.  I'm hoping it'll help me get a sense of what you're looking for and possibly generate some interesting topics to write about.  Another thank you to everyone that has provided feedback so far.  No matter the length or the content, comments really do mean a lot.  I know it can be cumbersome to write out an entire comment sometimes (especially for a post like this) so I've installed some reaction buttons at the end of each post.  To encourage more feedback.  While this blog is mainly about me and the things in my life, I'd love to be able to turn it into a conversation or discussion on things that matter to you.  On that note...comment away (on the better posts)! =)

Blank

It's amazing how quickly the ideas for interesting posts disappear the moment I sit down to actually write.  I'm thinking of starting a list to carry around with me because the frustration is mounting.  In a bid to write about ANYTHING other than the cleaning that dominated my weekend, I'll explore the over used movie cliche of the underdogs coming back to win it all.

Yesterday's activities included watching television re-runs of D3: The Mighty Ducks (because I can never resist watching Joshua Jackson) and the 1992 hit movie Cutting Edge, staring Moira Kelly as skating diva Kate Moseley and D.B. Sweeney as rough-around the edges Doug Dorsey, a pro-hockey player sidelined with a career ending injury.  While both movies are extremely high in the cheese factor, they both explore the trials and tribulations any underdog faces - formidable opponents, the will to better themselves, even the chance for romance.

Underdog characters are those that the common person can relate to.  They aren't the popular jock or cheerleader - they are the quiet, nerdy, nobodies that rise up to become somebody.  They are characters worth supporting because they are just like you.  This is the exact reason we love watching movies about underdogs.  We all hope that we can be just as successful with the problems in our own lives.
