HP Day

I'm in recovery mode after the awesomeness of last night.  It's took three coffees to get me through the day without passing out at my desk and tomorrow is the big day for Kristal and Ben which means I'm leaving you all (semi) high and dry again tonight.  On the bright side, it's more time for you all to go watch Harry Potter this weekend - win/win for all of us! Just kidding of course...the real bright side is that aside from the up coming review, my Potter Mania is passing and you'll soon have something new to read about. =)

People Watching

One of the great things about Vancouver is all the great places to people watchthroughout the city. However, one of the best spots is a pretty well kept secret - midnight showings of popular movies, specifically those of a fantasy variety. I've spent the past 3 hours sitting in line for the final installment of the Harry Potter series. The amount of costumes, as well as the variety of characters is actually pretty amazing. I've got about 7 minutes before the lights (supposedly) will dim so I'll end things here and will be back tomorrow to elaborate! For anyone out there watching too...have a magical evening =)

Random Distractions

I'm still knee deep in Harry Potter books and movies; I still have three books and two movies to watch in 24 hours!  Clearly I won't finish in time but I am hoping to knock off the last two movies and maybe one more book before the theatre lights dim tomorrow night...after all, who really needs to sleep?

Even though I've been focused on the task at hand, I still have time for random distractions which is where Mike Halford and Jason Brough come in.  These guys are the geniuses behind The Province newspaper's Canucks-centric blog, Orland Kurtenblog, named after the first ever Vancouver Canuck team captain, Orland Kurtenbach.  While the Kurtenblog sits in second place (just behind Pass it to Bulis) of my favourite hockey blogs, they have absolutely rocked the off season with their non-hockey related posts.  Here's a sampling of what's popped up the past few days:

Did You Know Zonkeys Existed?
KB Supports the SPCA: Featured Cat of the Week
Is This Marriage Proposal the Biggest Jerk Move Ever?
Photo: Rare Evidence of the Mythical Sedin Triplet

I would say that the moment that catapulted them into second place would probably their 'press' coverage of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.  Between video cutting out because Brough walked into a tree to messing around at media day, every day brought us new reasons not to drink anything while reading the Kurtenblog.  If you've got some time to browse, these guys are definitely worth checking out!

Inside the Bubble

It's been another long night with the girls so of course I'm tired and eying my pillow and my brain tries to put something coherent together...

...

Clearly it's a bit of a lost cause tonight so we'll reach back in time for another one of those universal notes that is as applicable today as it was way back on August 22nd, 2006.

How well do we ever really get to know each other?  We think we know things, but there is no guarantee that it's the truth.  I've known some people for years and we know very little about each other.  Even my family and best friends are still learning new things about me.  That's what happens as we learn about ourselves; we change, and it changes how people see us.

How well can you get to know someone in a short period of time?  Apparently not as well as we thought...

Don't Look Back in Anger

Slip inside the eye of your mind, don't you know you might find a better place to play.  Take that look from off your face, you ain't ever gonna burn my heart out.  So, Sally can wait, she knows it's too late as we're walking on by.  Her soul slides away, don't look back in anger I heard you say.  Take me to the place where you go, where nobody knows if it's night or day.  Don't look back in anger, at least not today.
Noel Gallagher knew what he was talking about when he wrote these lyrics.  Sometimes it's easy to let our emotions get the better of us but it's important to try to look at things rationally.  Obviously this is easier said than done, but once you've given yourself some time to think things through and look at the big picture, it's actually easier to deal with.  Just something for you all to think about...

Potter Mania

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 comes out in FOUR DAYS!  Needless to say, now that the weekend parties are finished, my focus is shifting back to HP.  To help us along the way, Mashable recently compiled their ten best Harry Potter Spoofs.  Check them out for a few laughs:

I think Potter Puppet Pals wins hands down.  What do you think? =)
